A pair of local poker players cashed at the 2010 World Series of Poker Main Event in Las Vegas.

East Grand Forks’ Ben Blair finished in 212th place out of 7,319 to earn $48,847, while Randy McKay of Finley, N.D., finished 703rd to earn $19,263.

Blair, who earned his way into the $10,000 buy-in event by winning a preliminary tournament, ended his run late Wednesday. His pushed all-in with pocket jacks and was knocked out by an opponent who was holding kings.

Former UND student Jesse Haabak of MacVille, N.D., who won $352,832 with his 26th-place finish last year, was knocked out on Day 2.

The main event began on July 5. The field will be whittled down nine players on Saturday. Those nine will return in November to finish the tournament. The winner will earn $8.9 million.
