The World Series of Poker has beefed up its seven-year-old Circuit Tour by adding a championship event that will include a gold bracelet awarded to the winner.

Officials said the revamped World Series of Poker Circuit Tour will have 12 events at Harrah’s Entertainment-owned casinos around the country, will end with a championship tournament at Caesars Palace.

The circuit is separate from the annual World Series of Poker, which included 57 poker tournaments for bracelets this year and drew a record 72,966 players to the Rio. The tour’s championship will be held ahead of next year’s World Series.

The national championship will be an invitational with no buy-in. Winners will compete for a portion of a $1 million prize pool. Players will qualify through cumulative rankings or by winning certain circuit tournaments.

The World Series of Poker Circuit Tour will kick off August 9-31 at the Horseshoe Council Bluffs in Iowa and conclude May 9-22, 2011 at Harrah’s New Orleans.
